Postcard Cabins Digital Detox: Unplug & Reconnect

March 21, 2025 by Carlie Leave a Comment

Life can get so busy that we forget to take a step back and just be. My husband and I recently took a mini vacation to Postcard Cabins, a place designed to help you unplug from technology, relax, and reconnect with what truly matters. Our Postcard Cabins digital detox allowed us to leave behind the emails, social media, and everyday distractions to focus on each other, reset, and embrace a simpler way of living.

Benefits of a Digital Detox at Postcard Cabins

There is something so refreshing about escaping to a place where the biggest decision of the day is what card game to play next. Postcard Cabins promotes digital detox and a slower-paced lifestyle, and we fully embraced it.

  • Intentional Connection – Without the distractions of phones, TV, or work, we had real, meaningful conversations that often get pushed aside in the hustle of daily life. (They even provide a cellphone lockbox that we used the whole weekend.)

  • Small-Space Simplicity – Living in a tiny cabin getaway forced us to be present, work together, and appreciate the little things. Sharing a small space brought us closer and reminded us how little we actually need to be happy.
  • Relax and Reset – The cabin itself had such a calming and cozy feel. They provided the necessities you’d need for a comfortable stay, and we even found a deck of cards and some books that I picked up and found pretty interesting. While my husband played the guitar, I curled up with a good book, and we enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere that’s hard to achieve at home. One of my favorite moments was making a fresh cup of coffee and sipping it in bed, simply enjoying the view with no distractions—just peace, quiet, and the beauty of the world outside.

  • Exploration & Adventure – We ventured into nearby small towns, finding the cutest coffee shop, Starks & Luce, and enjoying the charm of a slower-paced, unplugged world.

Another good thing to note is that if you did not purchase any of the provisions they provided and then decide you want to, there is no need to fret. They have them available with the cost breakdown in your cabin so you won’t have to worry about calling someone or randomly deciding to have a campfire.

Downsides to Consider Before Booking

While our experience was overwhelmingly positive, there were a couple of things we noticed that might be worth considering if you’re planning a visit to Postcard Cabins.

  • Visible Road – Our specific cabin had a view of a road, which slightly took away from the secluded, middle-of-nowhere feeling. Not a dealbreaker, but something to note.
  • Other Cabins in Sight – The large back window of our cabin had a view of another cabin, which made it feel a bit less private. While this may not be the case for all locations, it’s something to be aware of if you’re expecting total solitude.

Is a Postcard Cabins Digital Detox Right for You?

Despite those small things, our stay at Postcard Cabins was an incredible reminder of the power of unplugging from technology and reconnecting with each other. It was about slowing down, appreciating each other, and simplifying life, even if just for a weekend.

If you’re looking for an opportunity to step away from the fast-paced world and focus on what truly matters, I can’t recommend a stay like this enough. Whether it’s a cozy cabin retreat or just a quiet weekend at home with the phones turned off, taking time to reconnect is always worth it.

Have you ever done a digital detox or stayed somewhere to truly unplug? I’d love to hear your experiences!
